  16.                    THE UNIVERSITY OF CONNECTICUT LIBRARIES

  18. The System Administrator (LIB2) will be directly responsible for assisting in
  19. project management, implementation, development and administration of the
  20. NOTIS Library Management System as well as supervising the libraries;
  21. microcomputer support program.  This individual will work closely with
  22. both University Computer Center and the University of Connecticut
  23. Libraries' staff.

  25. The Library Systems Department is the primary support area for:  the NOTIS
  26. Library Management System; library staff and public microcomputer hardware
  27. and software; Local Area Networks (LANs) for office automation; and
  28. general mainframe support.
  29.  
  30. Under the general direction of the Head of Library Systems, the incumbent
  31. provides a high level of technical expertise, advanced knowledge and
  32. independent judgement to analyze, design, and diagnose problems with the
  33. previously mentioned systems.  The incumbent is responsible for insuring
  34. the efficient and effective use of the Library systems and all of their
  35. components.
  36.  
  37. Minimum Qualifications Required:  Bachelor's degree in computer or
  38. business-related field; 3 years supervisory experience; 3 years experience
  39. with a variety of mainframe, and microcomputer products and
  40. systems; 3 years experience in user training and consulting, programming,
  41. and/or systems analysis; demonstrated abilities in analytical reasoning
  42. and problem solving; demonstrated ability to work independently; excellent
  43. oral and written communication skills.
  44.  
  45. Desired Qualifications:  Experience with IBM mainframe environment
  46. including MVS, CICS and IBM Job Control Language; programming experience
  47. and knowledge of SAS; experience in an academic library and/or academic
  48. data processing environment; familiarity with Token Ring LANs; experience
  49. with project management techniques; and experience working with diverse
  50. groups of staff and administrators in a project team setting.
  51.  
  52. Salary Range:  $30,811 - $40,054.  Major Benefits:  Choice of medical and
  53. retirement plans; 22 vacation days, 11 paid holidays.  Screening of
