  15. Our spine label printer sounds similiar to yours.  We are using a Quietwriter
  16. 2 hooked to a 7171 through a serial to parallel converter.  We are running
  17. at 1200 baud, 8 bits no parity, DTE device with Xon.  Also and I believe
  18. this is probably what you are missing we had to tie pin 20 to +5v inside
  19. our serial to parallel converter. (Pin 20 on serial jack)
