- It is my impression that the only field in the patron record that is
- updated by LB610 is the number of overdues. This is incremented by
- each overdue notice sent. If the item file has not been corrupted, which
- looks like the case for Michael, then this field can be brought into sync
- by running LB680/682.
-
- I do not run these programs, but I know there has been talk on the list
- that there are some problems with it. I'm also not sure that there aren't
- other fields updated during LB610, but it looks to me like all the fields
- are updated online (journal 4) or during batch except for the number of
- overdues. I hope others on the list will add their thoughts on the
- advisability of using this approach.
-
- Other options include:
-
- Use the history tapes generated at the end of LB610 that accumulate the updates
- to the item file, action index, and patron file. These tapes should be
- concatenated with the journal 4 files as input to LB968. Their records look
- just like the records created by LB965 from journal 4.
-
- If you have backups of LIREQC for past days, you can restore the backup file
- (backup the current LIREQC first) and rerun LB610. Throw away the duplicate
- reports and leave the item file & action index open so these files won't
- be updated (only the patron file). It's important to only update the patron
- file, since this is the only file that has been corrupted. Run these
- LB610 jobs in cronological order. When all is done, restore the current
- LIREQC file.
-
- Best wishes, Michael.
