  13.     It is my understanding that you can, and should, edit the .dat
  14. files, eliminating the older or incorrect duplicates, inserting any
  15. Alt-space non-breakable space dot where necessary, and then reindex your
  16. database.  Though I haven't tried it lately, when I've done that, ibid forced
  17. the reindex (presumably by noting the different dates on the index files and
  18. the data files.) in any case.  It's worked for me.
