- (I tried to post a note about this a week or two ago, but I
- may have failed to negotiate this new and rather frightful
- mail program. Please forgive any repetition of my plaint --
- I saw no replies, and so thought I should try again.)
-
- I am running NB4 (with apparent general success!) on an AT,
- Intel 80286 with a Monochrome (MDA) monitor and,
- I *think*, a Hercules Plus video controller. While my cursor
- is visible in most circumstances (I have had no problems with
- underlines or blinks), when it is in the Thesaurus window of
- words, it disappears. It *is* there, for if I press Return,
- a new and rather unpredictable alternative word appears in
- the text, but it would be nice to have a bit more control over
- the selection of such vocabulary changes. In all other windows
- (spelling, etc.) everything seems to be all right: there are
- bright bits and faint bits and highlight bars and a visible
- cursor. The Thesaurus window is quite plain in aspect. I
- tried to re-install the Thesauros, and I was instructed
- to insert my version 3.0 disk, that the program might find
- the file WFBG.SYN. When I did, there was an error message:
- "error: wrong archive structure."
-
- Is the Thesaurus a working feature in NB4? Is there anything
- I can do to make the archive structure of WFBG.SYN the right one?
- (It was a pristine original disk which I fed into the machine.)
- I have tried Update options, and I have spent considerable time
- exploring the Set possibilities (default, general, and anything
- else that seemed to have promise. I even tried the EGA
- alternative settings, but to no avail)
-
- I *do* hope that someone will be able to help me regain access
- to all those words...
