- Paul Chandler writes that NB will not print his print job over
- a network until he has closed down the program. This is a common
- DOS program problem with a solution.
- NB like many other programs does not indicate that it has finished
- talking to the device when it has finished printing.
- When NB is shut down it then releases the device. The network
- gets this message as a completion of the print job and despools the
- print file. Of course when the printer is directly attached to the
- PC this is not an issue.
- The way to get around this problem is to have the network interpret
- inactivity as the end of a print job.
- On our net I have things set up so that inactivity of ten seconds
- indicates the end of a print job. With this implimented NB does
- just fine. This may not work when downloading fonts, if there is
- a pause. With some other programs which download fonts and then
- think for more than ten seconds there can be problems.
- In that case a timeout of more than 10 seconds would be called for.
- I don't know if this would be relevant for Lingua users.
- I use plain NB so I haven't had to deal with this issue in any
- other flavour.
