- Despite some major and minor difficulties and much lost time installing
- and configuring, I'm basically very happy with NB4+Lingua+Orbis+Ibid.
- But some erratic behaviour puzzles me:
-
- 1) Changing printers: If a printer is installed and I change it (F1 -
- P - Activate printer) I *sometimes* get the error message "No fonts
- defined in printer table" and must quit and restart NB to activate
- a different printer.
-
- 2) Weird things in Ibid: Ibid. mostly works OK, but unpredictably
- Ctrl+F6 or menu equivalent brings up the Directory options menu
- (with a default directory L, which doesn't exist). Thereafter it's
- impossible to access Ibid. with either Ctrl+F6 or the menu. This has
- happened several times, but I don't know why or after what foolishness
- on my part.
-
- 3) Memory management seems bizarre. On my system I start with about
- 250 K, sometimes more, sometimes less (as seen in F7 screen).
- However memory seems to disappear for no good reason and cannot be
- got back. Where does it go and how do you entice it back?
-
- 4) Network printing: On our network NB will only print if and when
- I quit NB. This is possible, but I don't want to be a quitter.
-
- 5) Missing fonts: I seem to remember from the subscription brochure
- so long ago that there were Univers fonts promised for Lingua.
- Maybe there was even an 11-point font. Or was the wish father to
- the thought?
-
- 6) I've tried running NB and Lingua with WordCruncher under
- Desqview, but NB seems to interfere with the screen fonts in
- WC. In Lingua mode WC runs as hieroglyphics. Does anyone know
- what settings must be changed? I've tried everything I can think of.
-
- 7) Does anyone have a fax or e-mail number for the people who
- distribute Lbase?
