- Nancy, It's no simple quirk that visuals and sound, considered additives
- to words, are termed bells and whistles, eh? My favorite reaction to this
- is Rudolf Arnheim's - someone deeply devoted to visuals - who simply sighed
- (literarily) when he wrote that when we followed the Greeks we chose words
- over pictures. He made it sound as though it was a mere turn of events; he
- makes me wish I could sigh so well in writing (or pictures, for that matter).
