- The Department of Library Science is seeking applicants for a tenure-track
- teaching and research position at the assistant or associate professor
- level. We are looking for a faculty member who can teach and direct
- doctoral research in a range of subjects and will complement and enhance
- the programs and directions of the School in one or more of the following
- areas:

- information resources and retrieval
- information policy
- organization of information
- management
- information technology
- communication
- archives and book arts

- Minimum qualifications include an earned doctorate by starting date,
- demonstrated experience or strong potential for excellence in teaching,
- interest and competence in research and knowledge of professional
- practice. An MLS from an accredited library program is desirable and
- interdisciplinarity will be an asset.

- The University of Pittsburgh offers a high level of staff and
- technological support for teaching and research, an atmosphere of
- collegiality, and a multicultural and diversified faculty and student
- body. The School of Library and Information Science is one of the largest
- in the country, offering opportunity and commitment to the creative use of

- Salary range $35,000 - $45,000, depending upon experience and
- qualifications. Preferred starting date is September, 1993. Please send
