- You might get better or more complete information on a PC list,
- but I'll tell you the little that I know. I'm also assuming that
- the PC's in question are running DOS.
-
- SIMTEL and mirror sites list COBOL650 as the most current
- PC based COBOL compiler that runs under MSDOS. It should give
- you most of what you want, but I haven't tried it. There is
- also a new PC based 370 assembler and emulator that you may
- care to look at. If you have TCP/IP, just FTP to the DEC
- WSMR-SIMTEL20.Army.Mil and get PD1:<MSDOS.COBOL>COBOL650.ZIP
- Since you have BITNET, you could also:
-
- TELL LISTSERV AT NDSUVM1 /PDGET BITSEND PD:<MSDOS.COBOL>COBOL650.ZIP
- TELL LISTSERV AT NDSUVM1 /PDGET BITSEND PD:<MSDOS.PGMUTL>PC370V42.ZIP
-
- The LISTSERV at RPIECS is also a U.S. mirror site. In Europe
- there are 10 TRICKLE sites. For other locations, there 3 other
- TRICKLE sites. There are other methods to get the files.
-
- You will need BITRCV on VM to receive the files and PKZ110EU.EXE
- on your PC to explode the files. If you would prefer UUENCODEd
- format files, leave out the 'BITSEND'. You can UUDECODE them in
- VM with ARCUTIL or on the PC with UUEXE515.ZIP. I recommend using
- VM for UUDECODEing if you have problems UUDECODEing on the PC.
-
- If you need any of the mentioned files, I would be happy to
- send them to any BITNET site. All are available in archives.
- For a cute PC source editor, TELL LISTSERV AT BLEKUL11 GET TINYED ZIP
- It's in the OS2 filelist, but works in DOS for COBOL or other source.
- Warning: I don't scan for viruses, but you might consider doing so.
