  15. I'm also an ABD working on a distance learning program interested in
  16.  qualitativeaspects of research.  My dissertation will consider text style in
  17.  training
  18. materials used in business & industry (not in a DE program specifically).  A
  19. couple things that would interest me in your study would be gender and the
  20. amount of peer-to-peer interactions vs. the amount of instructor interactions.
  21. The literature suggests in face-to-face interactions both gender & position
  22. (e.g., instructor) have an impact on who says what when...we've notice some
  23. differences in our DE courses in the amount of peer-to-peer vs. instructor
  24. interactions.  Can't comment on gender (98% of the student population at
  25. St. Kate's are women).  Given several experiences where the absence of women
  26. in discussions related to theory on-line, I suspect gender differences will
  27. still be found in your transcripts.
