- I'm still skeptical about cochlear implants, but I'm happy that the girl is
- doing very well with her cochlear implant. After all, when she lost her
- hearing due to meningitis, she was unhappy without any hearing. She even
- complained that her whistle was "broken." I was a bit furious with the
- president of the organization of the Deaf when she said the parents were
- not qualified to decide that the cochlear implant would be good for their
- daughter (and I was also disturbed by Harlan Lane, too when he said that
- the doctors were trying to make money from the deaf).
-
- In any case, I agree with Chris Lefheldt that it is the best solution that
- parents make a decision for their children, no matter what others say.
