  13.         My campus (University of Central Florida) is considering supporting
  14. email for all of our staff and students.  Currently we have a mix of host
  15. and lan based mail systems supporting about 15% of the campus.  We are looking
  16. at bringing up either a Unix based email system or a POP based server for
  17. out users.  I would appreciate answers to the following questions from
  18. any site who is running is this environment or who might be thinking about
  19. it.

  21. 1) How many users are you currently supporting?
  22.  
  23. 2) Are you using a POP based system or a Unix email system (Pine/elm)?
  24.  
  25. 3) How much disk space have you allocated to the POP server (or Unix box)
  26.    and do you have a formula for allocating space?
  27.  
  28. 4) How powerful of a email server do you have (MIPS) and is it dedicated
  29.    to the email function?
  30.  
  31. 5) How many support people (man hours?) do you need for the email
  32.    system each month?
  33.  
  34. 6) How do you support access to the email system?
  35.  
  36.     1) direct TCPIP access (NuPop or Eudora).
  37.     2) SLIP access
  38.     3) ascii dialup/gateway through pbx
  39.  
  40. 7) How many concurrent users do you support?
  41.  
  42. 8) How do you handle documentation and training?
