  27.    meaning is pervasive.  But we apparently mean different things by

  30. the concept of ``meaning,'' or anything else, is useful in a theory
  31. only insofar as it has explanatory power.  you seem to be saying here
  32. that meaning is everything--is inherent.  to say that something is
  33. everything isn't much different from saying it is nothing:  what good
  34. does it do to say ``that has property x'' when everything has property
  35. x?

  44.    your presumption, now that I understand what you mean by "mediated by

  47. the rest of your discussion was interesting, but i didn't see it as
  48. addressing your point.  it's not clear to me whether you think
  49. speech actions are distinguished actions or not.  (my argument is that
  50. they are not distinguished (in any nonincidental way)).
