- We had that trouble too (training people to carry their cards with them)
- until we would no longer let them charge out books without the card. We
- offered to hold the books until the person had a chance to get his or her
- card. Everyone learned quickly enough and there weren't too many upset
- people once they understood it was for their own protection.
-
- We use a person's social security number or an assigned 9 digit number
- as identification and have it encoded on the card.
- By using that card rather than keying in a person's
- number we know we are not keying in the wrong number and possibly charging
- a book to the wrong person. This explanation seems to satisfy them.

- Penn State not to be confused with Penn, right Emily?
