- Thanks to all who responded. Thses are the compiled responses to my
- inquiry for Toyota repair in the Menlo Park/Palo Alto/Mt View area.
- I take no responsibility for any recommendations. I ended up at Kurts who seemed to be a good guy, but boy is repairing a Toyota expensive these days.
- e.g. '87 Camry headlight = $150+.

- I have a friend who loves Kurt's. I have an 89 MR2 which
- I faithfully took to Toyota of Palo Alto while I was living
- there. They were just great - in my opinion worth
- the extra $$, but the cost may be prohibitive if you
- really need a lot of work done.

- I've been taking my Corolla to Northwest Auto (Tom Hickey, sole
- proprietor) in Palo Alto since 1984. Tom's not cheap, but he's
- a perfectionist and a master diagnostician. Definitely a cut
- (or two) above Toyota Palo Alto, which tried to pull a Sears
- on me last time I was there. (I needed some emergency radiator
- work, and Tom was booked. TPA tried to talk me into replacing
- the whole damned car piece by piece.)
-
- Northwest Auto
- Corner of Charleston & Fabian, Palo Alto
- 415-967-2453
-
- BTW, if you need a cheap replacement car for a day or two,
- there's a place about two doors down from NW Auto that has a
- special $17.95/day "My-car-is-in-the-shop" rate:
-
- ACar Rent-A-Car
- 870 E. Charleston Rd. (near San Antonio)

- Hi David - When I moved to Menlo Park about a year and a half ago, I took
- my 83 Celica to Toyota of Palo Alto. I can't be specific but I definitely
- felt like I got ripped off. Through an auto mechanic classmate I was
- steered (no pun intended) to C&T Automotive on Palm St. in San Mateo. The
- owner Chris is great and the work and rates are top notch. Since I have no
- one to ferry me there, I go to a C&T and then rent a car from Dollar. They
- have a $20 daily rate and they pick you up (and later deliver you) right
- at C&T. I just count the $20 as part of fixing my car.

- You'll probably hear this a lot. There's a summary that's been floating
- around the net for a few years now (compiled by Ben Fathi (sp?) previously
- at MIPS) that I got this recommendation from...
-
- Yarnell's in Mountain View. They're on the corner of Evelyn and Pioneer.
- They only work on Toyotas and Datsuns and I really like the work they do
- on my '89 Toyota Corolla! Their number is (415)969-9018.
- HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
