- You're right, of course. If that's the ASCII way of putting a dieresis on a
- letter, then the original poster was exactly right. However, diacriticals in
- the English language, like the compound letters (I forget the precise term,
- which will no doubt lead to more corrections!) such as "oe" and "ae", all these
- have pretty much become archaic. So I never suspected that when I saw the
- original posting.
