  13. Recently our MAN from haaaaaa-vaaaaaad sarcastically stated
  14. that I had been working on some secret project with
  15. Wlie Wiesel, to which I responded that I would have difficulty
  16. imagining myself working with Elie Wiesel on anything because
  17. of a quote I had heard attributed to him that allegedly puts
  18. forth some pretty bad anti-Germanic hatred.

  20. I had heard the alleged quote in the IHReview literature, and
  21. if I had heard it ONLY there, then I would have looked upon
  22. it with skeptism.    I had previoulsy though that I had first
  23. heard it from a Pitt professor whom I highly respect, so I
  24. have been, for about the past year and a half, been taking
  25. that quote VERY serioulsy and delt with it by just ignoring
  26. Wiesel, whereever taht was possible.

  28. Then Fein (from still-segregated haaaaaaaa-vaaaaaaaaad) stuck
  29. Wiesel right in my face in a hostile way and I just could not
  30. ignore Wiesel anymore.

  32. So I set out to try to track down just when and where and in
  33. what context he had made that alleged quote.    My search led
  34. me back to the Pitt professor from whom I had thought I had first 
  35. heard of it from.    However, he has no knowledge of such a 
  36. statement from Wiesel.   In fact, he thinks the alleged quote
  37. is entirely fabricated, for the Wiesel he knows is somebody
  38. who is very much in favor of reconcilliation between the Germans
  39. and the Jews and that it would be entirely out of character
  40. for Wiesel to make some virulently anti-Germanic statement.

  42. It is also possible that at some time and at some place, Wiesel
  43. really DID make the alleged statement, but not in keeping with his
  44. overall outlook.   It might also actually appear somewhere in
  45. some piece of his writing, but when read in context does not have
  46. the anti-Germanic meaning it appears to carry when quoted in
  47. isolation.

  49. It is a common Carto-ist IHReview tactic to take
  50. something a perosn really said, pull it out of context, then put
  51. it in among their own words (on other words, put it in their own
  52. specially-designed context), and thus comming up with a finished 
  53. that makes the origianl speaker/author appear to be saying something
  54. altogether different that he/she REALLY had said or meant.

  56. By this tactic, Carto/IHReview has made it, for example, to appear
  57. that Yehudah Bauer is an IHR-type Revisionist, which he is not.
  58.  
  59. And at the recent IHReview Conference, Mark Weber (with Carto's 
  60. knowledge and approval - maybe it was even all Carto's idea)
  61. read protions of a letter I had written to him as he was introducing
  62. one of the speakers.    By such "selective editing", Carto and
  63. Weber totally misrepresented me.     They used my statement for
  64. something I would have never used it myself - to drive more wedges
  65. between people who believe in the Holocaust and people who don't.
  66. Anybody who has been reading my posts for a long time knows that 
  67. I am somebody who wishes to knock out such wedges.    If anybody
  68. who was there at that recent IHReview Conference - to include the
  69. speaker Weber was introducing - wishes to see the FULL TEXT of
  70. my letter to Weber, I would be glad to provide it.   If any of
  71. you attendees read alt.revisionism and see this (or if somebody
  72. else prints is/saves it and shows it to you), I would most encourage
  73. you to contact me by the means cited at the end ot this article.

  76. in the tapes of the Conference that will later be offered for sale
  77. to the general public.

  79. So it is quite possible that the first place I had seen 
  80. the alleged Wiesel quote might have been in some IHReview literature
  81. I had been reading at the same time I was taking a class with
  82. the professor I had mentioned several paragraphs above, and thus,
  83. my memory had "mistagged" HIS CLASS as the source instead.  So
  84. now I too an quite speptical and am entirely convinced that that
  85. quote in no way represents the Elie Wiesel of today.

  87. I have to now publicly apologize to him for unwittingly spreading
  88. the idea (that IHReview so desperately wishes to spread) that
  89. Wiesel is some terrible anti-German bigot.

  91. In searching through my IHReview stuff, I found it said by Tom
  92. Marcellus, the Dummy Director of IHReview (Willis Carto is the
  93. real Director) that Elie Wiesel made that alleged statement
  94. in _Legends of our Time_.   So now I will get myself a copy and
  95. see just what is (and just what is NOT) in there.   IF the alleged
  96. quote really IS in there somewhere, then it is likely to have
  97. a different meaning when read in context than when read in isolation.
  98. The professor mentioned several paragraphs above is familiar with
  99. _Legends of out Time_, so if Wiesel had fully intended anything in
  100. there to be interpreted by his readers in a virulently anti-Germanic
  101. way, that is the way my professor whould have interpreted it - yet
  102. he did not.
