  24. I see the same thing here with both products, and also with donuts on
  25. Wednesdays.  (Nested peeve: we used to have better donuts, as well as
  26. croissants and bear claws, back in the halcyon days of `88 and `89, but
  27. entropy took its inevitable toll.)

  29. Have you ever noticed that when people buy a newspaper at a vending machine,
  30. they never want to take the top copy?  I don't understand this -- like you
  31. said, it's as though they fear it has cooties.  Another weird fetish I've
  32. noticed is the way some people won't answer a phone in mid-ring.  They'll
  33. place their hand on it, but they won't actually lift the handset until the
  34. pause between rings.
