- My sole source of peace of mind lately has been hot water.
-
- The time I spend in the shower, soaking in the heat like a plant
- taking in sunshine, is the part of the day when my spirit is truly
- free to soar. My mind is free of distractions; I can be a million
- miles away in my thoughts. The sore muscles in my neck loosen up
- and relax. The steam parts the allergies and colds standing in the
- way of clear breathing. The extremities of my toes, cold and cut
- off from circulation, come alive. Hot water is god. Why should it
- be any different for us who the water benefits than for the lobster
- for whom it is the angel of death? Cleanliness is next to godliness,
- after all, and when do you feel cleaner than in the shower?
-
- The feeling as each muscle in my back comes unsprung from the coiled
- tension; it's beautiful. Give the C-creatures credit, the hot tub
- is a great idea.
-
- The Simpsons aren't bad either.

- "The ripples of sand at his feet suddenly looked like the motionless
- crests of waves. Supposing they were sound waves, what kind of
- music would they give? he wondered. Maybe even a human being could
- sing such a song ... if tongs were driven into his nose and slimy
- blood stopped up his ears ... if his teeth were broken one by one
- with hammer blows, and splinters jammed into his urethra ... if a
- vulva were cut away and sewn onto his eyelids. It might resemble
- cruelty, and then again it might be a little different."
