- You know, I keep hearing about these machines, and I see the phrase "pull
- the lever" used quite often in connection with voting (but not nearly often
- enough in the context of capital punishment, alas), but I have yet to
- encounter a voting machine that actually *has* a lever, much less a shitload
- of them.

- All the voting machines I'ves used have been simple blue plastic affairs
- with a short stylus attached to a chain. After inserting the ballot at the
- top, so that a pair of red buttons stick through the holes at the top,
- turning the metal pages with the candidates' names and summaries of the
- propositions printed on them exposes successive columns of perforated
- rectangular holes on the ballot, and you just punch the appropriate ones.
