- I have a Native American friend here in Berlin, Germany, who
- has been living here for at least 20 years. She recently
- told me that it was _forbidden_ in North Carolina for
- Native Americans/American Indians _to marry_. She insisted
- it was like this, that they were generally forbidden "to marry",
- not just "to marry according to a traditional ritual".
- (You see, I hardly believed her.) Is this true? If so, what
- legal justification exists for it? If not, what may be
- the reality behind this rumour?
