  16.   JESUS TEACHES NICODEMUS

  19. John 3:1 Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a
  20. member of the Jewish ruling council.
  21.  
  22. John 3:2 He came to Jesus at night and said, "Rabbi, we know you are a
  23. teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous
  24. signs you are doing if God were not with him."
  25.  
  26. John 3:3 In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can
  27. see the kingdom of God unless he is born again."
  28.  
  29. John 3:4 "How can a man be born when he is old?" Nicodemus asked.
  30. "Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb to be
  31. born!"
  32.  
  33. John 3:5 Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the
  34. kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.

  36. John 3:6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to
  37. spirit.

  39. John 3:7 You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born
  40. again.'

  42. John 3:8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but
  43. you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is

  80. John 3:20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come
