- It sounds like our friend has been reading "The Dooms Day Machine" by
- William Aigensloss Smith (I don't remember the publisher). Smith was
- a machinist who thought that the scientists were nuts, and came up with
- a "Dooms Day Machine" where in order to explain magnetic stripes on
- the ocean floor, the earth flipped rather than the magnetic poles reversing.

- And you can indeed get glacial buildup during global warming at the poles
- during the early stages of a warming. The temp rises far faster at the
- equator, and thus puts more moisture into the system, more moisture means
- more snow. At least until the polar climate gets warm enough so that the
- extra snow melts rather than accumulates...
