- Some people has allready said what I wanted to say in a excelent way.
- No need to waste bandwidth to repeat it once again.

- IRC has nothing to do with this. ircII has. Learn a bit of the basics of
- IRC before creating a bot.
-
- It's sad when newborn ircers want to run their own bots like that...
-
- You have been first time seem on IRC:
- Thu Sep 24 20:44:41 1992 ( 0:01:28): gard@158.38.66.43 (flipper.pvv.unit.no)
- Today's date is: Tue Nov 10 13:40:24 MET 1992
- Not bad, realy not bad. It's sad to know that this person can destroy the
- use of a service for a lot of users:
-
- TOTAL INFORMATION (Norway september 1992.)
- ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
- Total served time: 162 ds + 19:50:01
- Number of sessions: 6474
- Number of different domains: 27
- Number of different users: 371
- Number of different machines: 331
-
- I do hope you are proud when that happens.
-
- Another more important point is from the file
- aun.uninett.no:uninett/uninett.regler. (For those who don't know, UNINett
- is the Norwegian part or Internet).

- 4.0 Acceptable Use Policy
-
- (7) Use should be consistent with guiding ethical statements and
- accepted community standards, such as
-
- - Malicious use is not acceptable.
- - Use of the network in a manner that precludes or significantly
- hampers the use by others should not be allowed.
- - Operational procedures should be followed.
- ~
- ~
-
- How to enforce the rules from uninett is much up to the various service
- providers. The Norwegian EBIC members (every server admin) has agreed to
- certain Operation procedures on their servers. This procedure is clearly
- stated in the MOTD. So before you began your crusade towards the org called
- Say NO to unattended bots (SNTUB) you should have asked some information
- from the people who know how this game works.
-
- On the wery best, your school may loose it's network acess. The net is not
- a right, but a service.
-
- You may be a graduate in 3 years time, by then I'll still be around and
- running IRC in Norway. In the meantime, I will never let one person destroy
- the service for the 90 - 110 regular users of IRC in Norway.
-
- \Ruben.

-
- PS: In september this year, I do wonder how much of 24 logins over 1 day
- (24 hours), 3 hours, 26 minutes and 10 seconds that YOU where actualy
- on ? (Remeber that you first signes on on the 24th).
