  21. A bot is an automated client. The term "bot" appeared much later than
  22. the original automated clients or "automatons". Among the first and probably
  23. the most useful of these were NickServ, and jircc.

  25. Now there are multitues of worthless "automatons" whose sole purpose is to
  26. "keep and give and maintain channel modes", and to be an extention of the
  27. users ego.

  33. I believe that Baloobear is the nick of a guy who had such a "bot" which used 
  34. the nickname "baloobot". He wrote a document which showed people how to 
  35. start a "bot" It explained simple things like /on to beginners. He made 
  36. the fatal mistake of including the script for his own bot at the bottom, 
  37. which the weenies coppied and used in true computer science student 
  38. tradition ;) . The document also promoted VERY BAD automaton behaviours,
  39. one of which was the:

  49. splattered about places such as this whenever a mindless vanity bot is
