- The bugs that I have had both have had the same kind of tank (as you
- described) but one had a hose that screwed on the lid and then screwed
- into the spare tire. It is my guess that both of you are correct.
-
- We shouldn't get into VW hacks, it would provide for way too much
- traffic for this group :-)
-
- CommonVWHack: Rigging the accelerator cable to get you home when the
- cable breaks. The last time it broke I hit the hardware store and
- just clamped the two ends of the wire together. A friend of mine said
- he used to carry around kite string for such an occasion. Just run
- it out the window and around back and you are set to go.
-
- BetterVWHack: Buying an extra accelerator cable to keep in the car so
- you can avoid the above.
-
- VirtualVWHack: Installing a new radiator on my bug (Don't forget the
- antifreeze its getting quite cold).
-
- VWKludge: Using plywood to hold my poor '67 Baja together since the rust
- is giving way.
-
- VWmiracle: Managing to stop safely while driving down the highway at
- 75mph and my hood comes flying through the windshield (can you say
- air brakes?)
-
- UselessHalfHack: Wasting the time to set up a mail alias so I can post
- to alt.hackers easier instead of just posting directly with rnews.
