  19. Please, please, PLEASE, can't you just say "there's an interesting discussion
  20. over in news.sysadmin; check it out"??!!

  22. It gets rather annoying to see articles two and three times, thanks to
  23. such reposting; I'd say that 'spreading the discussion' in this fashion
  24. actually performs a disservice, given readers' propensity for chopping
  25. Newsgroups lines.....

  27. It's also rather annoying to see only a few articles in a thread; we then
  28. almost always have to go searching for its conclusion elsewhere.  This is 
  29. another reason to provide pointers to discussion (instead of reposts of
  30. discussion).  This has the added benefit of concentrating the discussion
  31. (as best we can) in the original group; our opinions will reach more people,
  32. and we'll all become widely-respected, honored net.legends.    8)

  34. Seriously, though, I'd like to think that the majority of readers are able 
  35. to find their way to news.sysadmin; it isn't that difficult, and most sites 
  36. carry it. (In this case, more sites carry news.sysadmin than carry alt.comp.
  37. acad-freedom.talk, but we're reposting to the smaller group with the poorer 
  38. distribution!)
