- Actually radiation levels are higher on Mars then on Earth even though
- Mars is considerably farther out. This is because Mars has neither a
- strong magnetic field or good atmospheric shield to stop
- harmful/mutagenic ultraviolet radiation. Additionally cosmic rays get
- through to Mars surface readily and almost never on Earth.
