- There are a _lot_ of them out there. Many customers are still buying them
- as they do the necessary job just fine. I doubt even DEC knows how many are
- still running (they would only know about new sales plus systems on DEC
- hardware or software support).

- Also, a lot depends on what you consider "a PDP-11". For example, the
- HSC's use PDP-11 CPU's (F-11 [11/23 class] in the 50, J-11 [11/73 class] in
- the rest. The DECserver 500/550 use an 11/53 CPU card.

- I'm familiar with PDP-11's in a wide variety of applications, including
- such things as power plants, casino operations, and the accounting system
- of a major microcomputer vendor.
