- VOLUME 2 NUMBER 10 1/2
-
- SPECIAL EDITION: THE DFWLUG 10TH ANNIVERSARY PARTY!
-
-
- Everything went perfect for the 10th anniversary party of the DFWLUG!
-
- We held the party at the Dryfes club a screened in area looking out over
- White Rock Lake. The weather was sunny, warm and an overall beautiful
- day.
-
- First we had BBQ beef and chicken, Margaritas and Sodas, then we
- cut the LUG birthday CAKE! The cake was two cakes one with the
- new DFWLUG logo and the other with the DECUS logo.
-
- Stuart Renes Lug chairman for the last 10 years got up and introduced
- Laurie Maytrott (our current Southern regional coordinator)who congratulated
- the LUG on 10 years and announced that Chris Simon (of FMC) would be the
- future Regional LUG coordinator for the DFWLUG and the entire Southwest
- region! (Texas is joining the Southwest LUG region and it appears
- Chris is running unopposed for Southwestern Regional LUG Coordinator!)
-
- Then Stuart got back up and introduced Rick Valenzi from Frank Bowden's
- office (Vice president of Digital's Central Area).
-
- Rick Valenzi from SCA presented the placks and certificates to the
- steering committee and the whole event went like clockwork.
-
- Stuart received two commemeratives, one an 8 1/2" x 11" wood plack
- commemerating 10 years of service to the Digital Community and a
- parchment signed by Frank Bowden, Keith Butler (Digital's North Texas
- /Oklahoma's Account Group Manager) and the entire DFWLUG staff.
-
- Other Staff members were also presented with 5x7 placks from Digital.
-
- One large plack 11 x 14 was also presented to Stuart that commemerates
- Digital and the DFWLUG's 10 year history.
-
- There were 50+ LUG members present with their families, the total event
- was about 75-80 people. Certificates and awards were given out by Stuart
- Renes to folks who helped the LUG.
-
- We gave out 60 of the DFWLUG commemerative coffee MUGS, almost all my
- VMSclusters/Alpha Cluster Posters (the ones with the Cloudless Earth),
- and then we had the Raffle.
-
- The raffle consisted of the names of all the LUG members as of July 1992
- cut up into small strips and put into a Bag. We pulled about 12 names
- before we found a name of someone in attendance (you had to be present
- to win!).
-
- Kent Montee from Dallas Area Rapid Transit won the 19" color VXT200 and
- the Infoserver donated by Digital Desktop services.
-
- Kent was very excited and pleased with his "GIFT" and was looking forward
- to using the Xterminal at home.
-
- We pulled another several names of members who were not present
- (general concensus indicated that all of the names drawn of those
- who weren't present should be posted in the next newsletter!)
-
- Larry Culver from Blockbuster Entertainment for one of the DECpc 333sx
- donated by the Local Digital Office.
- And,
-
- Louie Rousseau from Lancaster Independant School District won the other DECpc.
-
- Larry was very excited by his good fortune and didn't have a terminal or
- modem at his house -- He will now.
-
- Louie and I were discussing Laptops before the raffle and he was talking
- about getting needing a PC...
-
- The party began to wind down and we cleaned up, packed up and broke up
- about 5:15pm.
-
- And the DFWLUG concluded it's 10th anniversary celebration....
