  21. North Carolina Technological Information Study Available In Info
  22.  
  23. In October 1991, the North Carolina Information Technology Commission
  24. requested Governor Martin appoint a task force to study public access
  25. issues associated with sharing of electronic information. Governor Martin
  26. appointed Dr. Earl Mac Cormac to conduct the study and prepare a report
  27. and recommendations. The report prepared by Dr. Mac Cormac with the
  28. assistance of M. Jane Bolin is available in the UNC-CH campus-wide
  29. information system, Info. From Info's main menu, select item #7,
  30. "Publications;" then item #3, "Other publications; " and then item #3.

  32. Topics covered in the report include "Personal Freedom Versus Freedom to
  33. Access," "Costs of Access to Public Information," "Commercial Requests for
  34. Information," "Drafts and Working Papers," and "Archives." The report is
  35. presented via a two-screen menu. The appendices were copied from
  36. hardcopies and are not included in Info; however, two letters presenting
  37. comments and observations of the North Carolina Press Association are
  38. included.
