- What mathematical limits apply to luminosity? Is it bounded on one or
- both ends of its range? If so, I'd look into (linear functions of) the
- gamma and beta families, respectively. They can be fit using the method
- of moments or by iterative MLE.

- introduce upper and/or lower bounds.
