  10. Polya died on 7 September 1985, at Palo Alto, following a stroke.

  13. assessment of his work in "Bulletin of the London Mathematical Society", Vol
  14. 19, part 6, number 81, November 1987, pages 559-608.

  16. The LMS established a prize in his honour, with money donated by his widow, in
  17. 1986.  The first holder of the prize, in 1987, was J. H. Conway.
