- I used the Dallas DS5000T a while back. This chip has a 8 or 32k
- EEPROM, 4 x 8 bit ports one of which has as other uses (for
- eg. programmable serial port.) They run at either 8 or 16 MHz (I think).
- The DS5000T has a real time clock, a watchdog timer and all sorts of useful
- goodies built in. The DS5000 series is based on the INTEL MCS51 set of
- micros so there is tons of software and reading matter for them.
- The reason i chose the Dallas chip was that it made a very cheap and easy
- development system. All one needes is a serial driver chip, a PC running
- some terminal emulation program and some bits of wire and you have a working
- system (A bit of software for the chip would be useful aswell :-) )
-
- There is a lot more to this chip, I just can't remember it all.
-
- Hope that helps
