- Subject: when to shift?

- Hey everyone, I've always been told that shift up early will help to get better
- gas milage. Some say shift at 2000 rpm, an article in a magazine even said
- at 1500 rpm. I believe shift up earlier will give better gas economy. The
- question is, does this have any negative effect to the engine other than lesser
- performance? Carbon deposition, for example, is one thing that jumps into my
- mind.
