  13. I have a question about low-fuel sensors.  The low fuel warning light on my
  14. 1983 Toyota Tercel stays on permanently, regardless of actual fuel level.
  15. I have both the Haynes and Chiltons guides, but beyond showing me how
  16. to take apart the dash to get at the light itself, they don't tell me anything.

  18. It seems that I can ignore the light, or take the bulb out, or try to
  19. fix the sensor.  So my 4-part question is:

  21.     1) How does the sensor work?
  22.     2) If someone is familiar with this problem, what
  23.        is the most likely cause of failure?
  24.     3) Is this something I would have a chance of fixing 
  25.           without great effort/expense?
  26.     4) If so, where would I get information about the sensor?
