- The torch converter went out in my dads car. He thought he could make it to the
- shop about 20 miles away. Trying to get the car to the shop he burned out the
- motor (at least thats what the mechanic told him).
-
- The mechanic said the best thing we could do is an engine/transmission swap.
- This is all fine and dandy, but his car is an 85 Buick Park Avenue and
- supposedly the 85 engine/transmission was unique to that year. So we would have
- to replace it with a 85 engine/transmission (with however many miles are on it).
-
- If we are going to invest the money to fix the car, we want to put a newer
- engine in the car. Does anyone know it would be possible (easy) to swap
- drivetrains/computer with a newer car. If so, what years and engine types will
- work.
-
- Thanks for the help, Doug
