- The last Toyota I worked on ('86 Tercel) had an external regulator,
- located behind the battery. It's usually a good idea to replace it
- when the alternator goes out, and a bad regulator can make an
- alternator stop charging. Figure on $15.00-25.00 at the auto parts

- Yes. The battery acts as a buffer, and protects the engine computer and
- a variety of other electronic pieces. Don't run the car with the battery
- disconnected.
