  13. Greetings all,

  15. A neighbour of mine owns an '84 Volvo Wagon, the 245 Turbo
  16. and since a recent tune-"up" by someone who claimed to know
  17. Volvo's it has been giving him some trouble with starting.
  18. Now both of us are familiar with automotive mechanics to some
  19. degree and do our own "work".  This however was his first
  20. non-American car so he thought that at least until he was able
  21. to get manuals etc he'd trust it too some third party.

  23. The problem then:  ( the engine is the B21F )
  24.  
  25. When trying to start the car cold once has to crank it over
  26. and then "catch it" with the throttle to get it started.  If
  27. it starts you then have to nurse it for a minute or two.  If
  28. it doesn't catch it'll then take 4-5 more episodes of this to
  29. get it to the point where it will consider starting.

  31. Outside temp and humidity don't effect things. It is a bit less
  32. cranky when warm.

  34. Any help in terms of problem spots that might produce this from
  35. a B21F or even general comments on this sort of engine with
  36. regards to weak spots or something that a bad tune-up might have
  37. earned him would be greatly appreciated.

  39. A solution from the "net" :) would be a great boost for the
  40. side of computers with my neighbour by the way !!  He's not
  41. the computer weenie that I am shall we say ;-)!
