  11. Dave Gagne asks if I polish as I go, and if I'm making stuff up along the
  12. way. Yes to both, at least this time. I'm finding it works to rough out the
  13. scenes with general description and incident, and then put in the little
  14. details (first the house, then the kiln and apple orchard in the yard). I
  15. know the general direction of the story, but not yet the specific incidents
  16. and problems my characters will face.

  18. How finished is the prose? Very, I hope! I need to get on to Chapter 2, and
  19. word processing makes it easy to expand a story without advancing it...you
  20. just embroider and embroider.

  22. As for Chuq's suggestion that my bloodthirsty but lovable villains, the
  23. Exteca, are in any way inspired by Usenetters...shame on him for even
  24. imagining such a scandalous idea! :)
