- I know several people who went through Lifespring in Denver. For most
- of them it was a positive experience; they were all very shy and are now
- much more self-confident and comfortable with themselves. And they went
- through LS about 8-10 years ago, so it seems to have "stuck".
-
- On the other hand, one person I know came practically unglued. He was,
- in my opinion, unstable when he returned. He ended up quitting his job
- to work with LS, and after a year or two of that became disillusioned
- and got a "real" job again.
-
- There's no doubt they're a hard-sell. I think they verge on brainwashing.
- But I can't give them a blanket condemnation. For the folks I mentioned
- above, it has meant a real improvement in their lives.
-
- On the other hand, there are much lower-pressure ways to gain that same
- self-awareness. My personal favorite is the Leadership Dynamics class
- offered by Espial, the direct-line-marketing company my wife & I work with.
- I've seen the same kind of results coming out of that class that I saw in
- several of the people I knew who went through LS.
-
- Bottom line: be very very careful. LS isn't inherently evil, but I don't
- care for many of their methods. Don't let them pressure you into a $900 class
- unless YOU decide YOU want to do it, and YOU have good reasons to do it that
- YOU believe. YOU decide -- NOT them.
