- Re: switching back and forth (again)
-
- What I mean is this: NB 4.0 offers 2 different versions,
- one called NB 4.0, and the other called NBLINGUA. NB 4.0
- is a monolingual pgm; it cannot handle Hebrew, Greek,
- extra accented characters, etc. It takes less memory than
- NBLINGUA, and its display is less shaky and more pleasant.
- It does not save accented characters as 3-bytes combinations,
- etc.
-
- When you do work, I presume that even if you are a heavy multilingual
- scholar, at times you would prefer to get free from the whole
- heavy machinery, and work with a 'lighter' pgm. I used to do
- that in 3.0 and 3.1 (where the 'monolingual' also could
- handle Hebrew, but not several non-Roman lanaguges together).
- If you are interested, have a look at my NB-HRC01.ZIP, where
- you will find fonts, screens for switching, etc.
-
- My contention is that working with Greek, Russian, Hebrew.,etc.,
- accessible all the time is not what one would like to have ALL
- THE TIME. So switching from the multilingual module to a
- mono (and hopefully bilingual) module is most desirable.
-
- NBLINGUA enables you to cancel the NBLINGUA mode going through
- SET-symbol set, then choose ASCII. This is fine indeed. But
- when I then try to go back to MULTILINGUAL mode through the
- same screen, I am requested to insert the installation diskette.
- I wonder if this is what all of you experience. If I am
- wrong, then switching IS possible in this new version.
- If I am right, then it is not.
-
- A word of warning, throigh: before trying, copy NB.COM
- to a safe place. If you can't switch back to NBLINGUA through
- the screen, quit, copy this NB.COM back to your NB 4.0
- subdirectiry, and reload. No harm done.
