- Re: mixing Courier (or fixed font) with Hebrew?
-
- Why should you need to do that when you have got the excellent
- FrankRuehl fonts? You would need fixed Hebrew fixed fonts, too,
- to make such printing acceptable. Actually, Gutman created fixed
- David fonts for a previous pckage, but I am not sure they are
- available now.
-
- By the way, has anybody received the David fonts from NBI? (NBI
- regretfully called these fonts Doved, to avoid legal conflicts
- with the designer of the original David fonts, Itamar David.
- I have written them that Itamar David does not object to
- this version, but the name Doved got hold.
-
- To me, the trouble with Lingua is not that Courier + Hebrew
- are not currently supported, but that the new NB drivers are
- INACCESSIBLE! We have all been able to produce drivers for
- a variety of fonts, on the fly, as it were, esp. with Lodestar.
- Now much of the information is encrypted (I don;t know where
- the substitution tables hide), the width tables look sheer
- madness to me (incredible high numbers, at least for Hebrew, Greek, etc.),
- and if you wish to have new fonts printable, or a new driver,
- or modify things as before, you must ask NBI! And if you ask
- NBI, would they have time for such trifles? Ergo: Give us back
- our freedom of customization, this must be the demand.
