- The NBSTART.INT fied is the NB4 correlate of the old STARTUP.INT file,
- and can be used in precisely the same way. Users should be very
- cautious, however, about copying the old STARTUP.INT file wholesale to
- the new file, for many of the functions commonly served by entries in
- STARTUP.INT are now taken care of automatically by NB4 or by using
- it's "Set" menu. A little cautious experimentation with the program
- and its customization options should precede your production of a new
- NBSTART.INT--you may decide that the new possibilities enabled in NB4
- will lead you to use this file a little differently.
-
- I know that many users of this list have used STARTUP.INT to unload a
- lot of overlays from memory and custom tailor their configuration in
- order to conserve memory. Be VERY CAUTIOUS about copying these
- commands as-is to NBSTART.INT, for the way that NB4 uses overlays is
- very different. Many of the overlays are modified in a
- context-sensitive manner during the initial program load, in a way
- that cannot be duplicated by reloading them later. Manipulating them
- in the same way as one did with NB3 can result in unpredictable
- results, corrupted files, system crashes, etc. *BE CAREFUL*
