- I checked again the possibilities of working with a Hebrew
- database in NBLINGUA Ibid.
-
- Browsing is still impossible (the Hebrew items are displayed
- from left to right)
-
- Generating via automatic styles comes pretty close to an
- optimum (though you have to add LA=4,LR=0 in the formatting
- deltas, and erase quite many LA1 deltas), which is the good
- news.
-
- The bad news is that even if you select ASCII sorting, then
- abolish capitalization (all via the Utilities sub-screen),
- the initial characters in the Hebrew sentences get capitalized
- in all fields other than the title. This means a complete
- havoc, since capitalization in Hebrew is nonsense. What
- takes place is a barbaric replacement of a set of letters
- by another, a totally unrelated, set. I don't see how one
- could cancel that. NBI will have to take care of this
- capitalization issue, because it also affects regular files
- (if you leave AU on, you get the wrong characters at the
- beginning of sentences).
-
- If I am in my office tomorrow, I can upload a small (98 items)
- Hebrew database for whoever wish to test this option.
- Drop me a line if you wish to be sent a copy.
