- I am discovering that Hugh Agnew's installation problems are not
- entirely isolated. I haven't yet received my Lingua package, but I
- can shed a single gleam of light on the situation from my experiences
- helping others install NB4 (both with and without Lingua).
-
- All the upgrade looks for in your NB3 program directory or
- distribution diskette is an NB.EXE file with valid registration
- information. It then appears to use this information to serialize the
- program files for NB4. It does not use any of the NB3 files
- themselves. This means that you don't need everything from NB3 on
- your disk, just the registered version of NB.EXE.
-
- My advice to Hugh would be to try a new installation in a new
- directory (sticking with the default directory name of NB4 is a good
- idea, especially if you are having trouble with the installation).
- Keep a copy handy of the master backup NB3 distribution diskette with
- NB.EXE on it so that you can insert it when needed if the installation
- program can't find NB.EXE in your old program directory. That should
- do the trick...
