- RACF allows you to set in the SETROPTS specifications for the password. These
- include the structure and length of the password. The security administrator a
- nc specify the duration of the passwords life and how often the password can be
- used.
-
- At logon with RACF installed the user is taken to a screen that prompts for the
- old and new password. Your systems programmer can modify the message to tell
- the users how to enter the password. The new RAC command interface allows the
- systems pepole to create execs that will have a locally designed front end and
- then issue the RACF command in background to perform the function. IF your use
- s are using ISPF RACF 1.9 still has the panels for passwords and you could prov
- ide prompted panel to change their password while logged in.
-
- The policies for seting the password perameters may have been set by your Secur
- ity Auditor. Security Auditors frown on passwords that don't expire.
-
- The issue of shared passwords can be eleminated by using the surrogate function
- in RACF 1.9
