- VM/XA SP 2.1, while no longer marketed(?), is still fully supported, and
- I don't believe a sunset date has been announced yet. It has CMS 5.6,
- which is valid for anything which requires 5.5. :-)
-
- I think XA 2.1 supports 3990 read caching, but I'm not positive (our
- 3990-3 is dedicated to the MVS guest). It also supports minidisk
- caching in expanded storage, but on your 4381 that may not help much.
- (Can you even define storage on a 4381 as expanded?) If you have the
- chance, try it; what's not used as minidisk cache is used as paging
- space between main storage and disk. Not quite as good as having it as
- purely main storage, but still quite useful.
-
- Just a thought,
- Nick
