- CONFERENCE THEME
-
- CCSO'93 focuses on the communication aspects of
- Cognitive Computer Science for organizations (CCSO), whatever
- objectives and means of such communication. It is concerned
- with the development and use of knowledge intensive applications.
-
- CCSO'93 investigates classes of applications
- facilitating the implementation of communication systems able to
- orchestrate various sub-systems for task performance support,
- information retrieval, decision-making and intelligent training.
-
- During CCSO'93, we will also discuss tools and techniques for
- developing such systems, seeking research results
- in relation to concepts, methods, tools and
- techniques for knowledge modeling, natural-language
- processing, media integration, cognitive ergonomy and
- communication of knowledge at a distance.
-
- SUB-THEMES
-
- A) Knowledge Communication Support Systems for
- 1. Intelligent Training
- 2. Task Performance
- 3. Information Retrieval
- 4. Decision-Making
- 5. Integrated information and knowledge communication
-
- B) Tools and Techniques
- 1. Knowledge Modeling
- 2. Natural Language Processing
- 3. Intelligent Interfaces and Cognitive Ergonomics
- 4. Document Structuring and Multi-Media Integration
- 5. The virtual organization: creating, communicating, and living
- with distributed knowledge and expertise*
-
- * Researchers are particularly encouraged to consider the
- presentation of a paper in relation to this subtheme;
-
- - environmental pressures and organizational responses:
- competition, cooperation, and collaboration
- - knowledge capital: its creation and distribution,
- within and between organizations
- - organizational redesign and new organizational structures:
- just-in-time knowledge building, distributed virtual
- work groups, telework, and electronic nomads
- - obstacles to creating and using electronic collective
- intelligence (economical, social, psychological,
- organizational and technological)
- - the concomitant human and organizational issues
- (please direct any questions about this section to Duncan Sanderson
